The person we are is constructed around our habits, thoughts and actions. This is one of the reasons fundamental changes can be so elusive and why stopping to breathe and think is vital.
If we don’t stop, breathe and think before launching into a new challenge, we can end up on the treadmill of doing the same things repeatedly.
It’s easy to start things that seem new and unique, but there needs to be an awareness that we bring all our old baggage and behaviour forward, and the new becomes old. It is okay to reach out for help in separating who you are from your responses to what happened in your past.
When I get that “different day, same stuff” feeling, I slow down and remind myself that any results I see reflect me and where I am; they do not reflect the opportunity. What can I work on to make the new options truly new, to stretch myself beyond my old edges and limitations?
